For us here at Yarn Stories, creating a completely new family of yarns has been an amazing project to work on. Not only have we been developing the yarn, but launching our brand at the same time. This means that we are in the fortunate position of putting our products at the heart of our whole business – we put all of our emphasis on making the best product for you.
It all started with a blank sheet, or rather a great big bale of fibre! We knew the kind of yarn that we wanted to make. For a start, it was going to be a worsted type, because that’s what our mill makes. Worsted yarns have an extra combing process that make the yarns even sleeker and higher quality. We spin yarns for some of the most discerning weavers in the world. This of course meant that we have confidence in our abilities to engineer a superior product. But most of all, we had a vision. A vision to produce a yarn that knitters and crocheters would want to use. That may sound like an obvious thing to say but we wanted them to have a voice in the development of a product that was an absolute pleasure to use. Imagine something so gorgeous and inviting that you just cannot wait to pick up your needles and hooks! Well, that is what we are aiming for.
We are fortunate, as with our very own spinning mill; we can fine tune our yarns and make all kinds of samples for people to try. So this is exactly what we did. Different weights and blends were produced and send out to designers, knitting and crochet experts, as well as some secret testers. Actually it was a few members of Juliet’s knitting group who were the first to try our new creations and frankly, they were the most demanding of the lot! The feedback was carefully collated and assessed, our first two yarns were then fine-tuned to try and meet everyone’s requirements and now very high expectations.
Now here we are. With two yarns now launched and another two just around the corner.
At the knitting and stitching show the response from everyone that came on our stand was brilliant, which makes us so glad we had the opportunity to make the yarns you desire.
So, what did knitters and crocheters tell us made for the perfect yarn? Well, actually, we’re going to keep that part of our recipe a secret. Just try our yarns and you will see what all the fuss is about!
