Finally, the long wait is over and we can unveil the beautiful Knitting and Crochet Guild blanket. Several months ago we invited knitters and crocheters to submit a design for a 15cm square inspired by the Guild’s archive. The entries flooded in and we had a tough job choosing just ten finalists with the help of Debbie Abrahams, Jane Crowfoot and Angharad Thomas from the Guild. Since then you have been voting for your favourite - a close run competition that went right down to the wire. The winner is Bronagh Miskelly for her cabled square who wins £100 Yarn Stories products, lucky her.
But so many votes were cast for Gale Coles’ Fair Isle square we have decided to award her a special prize of £30 of Yarn Stories goodies. All the finalists receive 2 balls of our yarn in their choice of colours.
We have put all the squares together to make up this special blanket. It was great fun to work with all the different colours, designs and textures. The pattern is now available here (link) with 50% of the revenue going to support the work of the Knitting and Crochet Guild Archive and Collection. If you want to help protect this amazing resource, please buy the pattern.
If you would like to join the Guild you can find more information here.
We would like to thank everyone who submitted a square – you are all very talented people – and the Guild for their help and support throughout this project.
