Twice a year we are lucky enough to visit the romantic Italian city of Florence to attend the most important show in the yarn calendar - Pitti Filati.
Yarn producers, mainly from around the world, show their new ranges and trend experts mount presentations that show us the direction that knitwear is heading in for future seasons for colour, texture, pattern and garments. Even though we produce our own yarn it is a fantastic show to go to; a real stimulus for new ideas.
For us it is a huge melting pot of inspiration that helps us decide our design trends more than a year ahead of when they hit your needles.
At the beginning of July we went to look at Autumn Winter 16 and we have brought you back a few photos to give you a sneak preview of what will be in fashion then.
One of the main trends you can see here is a fascination for Kilim patterning in rich colours as well as clever combinations of neutral shades. The traditional geometric designs used in new ways was fascinating. We also noticed a number of swatches that really reminded us of nets and ropes with their open structures.
We came back full of ideas but you’ll just have to wait to see what we come up with.
Where do you turn when you are looking for inspiration?
